Drive and brake torques measured directly on the wheel
In automotive development, it is important to accurately measure the torque exerted by the vehicle – especially during acceleration and braking maneuvers. The WTT-DX provides users with a highly precise tool. The measuring wheel detects the mechanical load directly where it is generated: at the wheels, the meeting point between vehicle and road.
Precise even with high wheel loads
The WTT-DX combines two core competencies of CAEMAX – torque acquisition at the wheel and interference-free telemetric transmission of measurement data. The design of the measuring device has been optimized to further increase the signal quality. The WTT-DX also provides highly precise measurement data during dynamic driving manoeuvers, which lead to strong heating of the sensor. In order to take account of the constantly increasing vehicle weights in the automotive industry, the mechanical stability of the measuring body was designed for multiple vehicle service life of heavy SUVs.
Test drives in all weather
To enable measurements in snow, ice and melt water, the measuring device, power supply and electronics were integrated into a waterproof (IP 67) housing. The special rechargeable batteries built into the sensor allow measurements at a temperature range of -30°C to +60°C.
Always in sync with Dx Telemetry
The DX-Telemetry sender integrated in the wheels also comes from CAEMAX. The measurement data of the four torque measuring wheels are transmitted wirelessly from the wheel to the receiving antennas on the side mirror – thanks to digital technology, it’s interference-free and with high resolution. The four telemetry electronics integrated in the wheels are centrally controlled and clocked by the receiver unit in the vehicle. This highly simultaneous scanning of all four wheels makes it possible to record and validate fast control processes between the wheels with high temporal precision. Measurement data is output at the receiver unit via CAN or analog and can therefore be easily integrated into existing measurement systems.
Ready to measure quickly
A flexible adapter system allows quick adaptation to almost any vehicle type: rim and hub adapters are freely combined to cover different wheel sizes and offsets. The wheel bolts are freely accessible for quick change of the measuring devices.
